The BMW XM went on sale here in Mzansi a few months ago and we have seen a number of them on the roads already. That car was launched with the 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 engine and a Hybrid system that helps it push out a total of 480kW and 800Nm. Following the XM’s international unveiling in 2022, a more powerful derivative called XM Label Red was announced. Part of the reason for such a name is that the car has clear red accents through certain exterior and interior parts.

BMW is now rumoured to have slightly altered the name of its most powerful SUV of all time, that XM Label Red (550kW, 1 000Nm). Rumour says the company is now going to simply call it XM Label, because the original name is too long. No official confirmation on this yet, but it seems a bit of an unexpected oversight on BMW’s behalf that they didn’t initially think the name was too long. Names of cars go through a rigorous internal process before being approved by the Board. Surely Label Red also went through the same?
