India is establishing a new crash test system that will rate cars with up to 5 stars based on several safety tests. The world’s third-biggest car producing country says this will help consumers make the right buying decisions. Tests will be conducted voluntarily.
Mzansi currently relies heavily on the Euro NCAP method of testing for most of the cars sold in the country. However, Global NCAP and C-NCAP are making serious inroads as well. India’s new system will add a further layer of safety testing for cars that mainly come out of that country. At the moment they include Mahindras, Suzukis and some Renaults.
