As previously reported in these and other pages, Mercedes-Benz is replacing both the C-Class and E-Class Coupe and Convertible cars with one range, called the CLE. The car has now come into the spotlight and reveals some nice and familiar design cues. It seems to blend both classes of car, and is slightly larger than the old C-Class coupe.

Now following several spy pics, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Coupe model is finally official. CLE 53 will sit atop the pile for now, while the 63 S Performance Coupe model is stewing in its 4-cylinder chambers. One thing that AMG fanatics will probably appreciate about this car is the presence of a 6-cylinder motor, although many would have preferred the V8 we believe.

Here are some of the important details:

• In-line, 3.0-litre bi-turbo

• 330kW, 560Nm

• 9-speed auto

• 0-100km/h: 4.2s

• 4 seats

• 20-inch wheels

• 30.2cm touch screen

• Rear axle steering
