The Renault Group has presented its global sales results for 2023. According to those figures, listed in this story, the company increased sales by 3% over 2022. We would have to add that while this is commendable, it is nowhere near where it should be, considering that BMW Group sold 2.5 million cars in 2023, and that is a company selling premium brands.

Having said that, there is scope for growth for Renault as it prepares for the new year with new products. The Mzansi outfit contributed 21 703 units to that tally.

Here are some worldwide highlights:

Total units: 2 235 345

• Renault: 1 548 748

• Dacia: 658 321

• Alpine: 4 328

The top 3 countries:

1. France – 551 373

2. Italy – 187 249

3. Turkey – 176 983
